Subject: "Semantic Web and Software Agent Technologies" 2006 HICSS-39 Friends and Colleagues- We wish to invite you to the "Semantic Web and Software Agent Technologies" minitrack at the 2006 Hawai`i International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-39). This workshop seeks to explore novel, multidisciplinary research in issues related to the Semantic Web and the use of Software Agents. For 2006, the conference will move to the island of Kauai. We had a strong response at last year's conference on the Big Island, and plan to continue to strengthen the workshop for 2006. We would very much like to encourage you to submit appropriate papers to this excellent venue. We look forward to engaging and friendly discussions with important scientists in the fields of Semantic Web and Software Agents. The Call For Papers is below, with a PDF version attached. Please share with others that may be interested; we look forward to a strong response. The firm deadline for submittal is June 15, but we will be happy to provide feedback earlier if you wish to submit an abstract for initial consideration. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Sincerely, Mark Elmore, Tom Potok Co-Chairs, "Semantic Web and Software Agent Technologies" Minitrack 2006 Hawai`i International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-39) Mark T. The World Wide Web requires the human user to find data and to provide semantic understanding to bridge multiple data sources, discern data suitability, and fuse data for human understanding. The Semantic Web empowers Software Agents to perform these tasks more rapidly, more thoroughly, and more concisely, freeing the human user to focus on understanding and decision-making. The use of Software Agents is an integral part of the Semantic Web, and the use of Software Agents, both capitalizing on Semantic Web technologies and in non-Semantic Web applications, is gathering momentum and is of strong interest to this workshop. Papers describing unpublished, original work are solicited on any topic from state-of-the-art research or practice in software development and its application in industry; that discuss approaches for tailoring software and information systems for institutional, industrial and commercial use. Explain in-depth the approaches that produce more effective (efficient, secure, dependable) systems (e.g., adaptive intelligent agent based systems) and emphasize the use of proper methodologies and formal practices to improve software productivity. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): * Semantic Web o Semantic Grid * Software Agents o Textual, image, and sensor data analysis * And their applicability to: o Scientific, business, and military data analysis o Web Services o Distributed Information fusion and federation o Grid Computing o Data visualization o Global Information Grid o Ontologies o Security o Other related technologies Workshop Chairs Mark T.
