DAML Certificate Netscape Import Instructions

Home | About DAML | Announcements | Roadmap | Site Search

  1. First, you should upgrade to the latest version of Netscape. Don't worry, your bookmarks will still be there after the install as long as you install the new version "overtop" of your current version.
  2. Your certificate will be emailed to you as an attachment named your_e-mail_address.p12. Save this file to your hard drive.
  3. Open your Netscape browser and connect to https://www.daml.org. If you haven't already accepted the site certificate, you will be prompted to accept, in which case, you should accept the certificate until it expires.
  4. Click on the "Security" button on the Netscape tool bar.
  5. Under the "Certificates" section, click "Yours"
  6. Click the "Import a Certificate..." button and enter the password or PIN for the Communicator Certificate DB. If you haven't set this password up yet, you will be prompted for one. Don't lose this password. You have the option of leaving this password blank. I don't recommend doing that. Enter a password here and keep it in a safe place.
  7. Browse you computer and find the .p12 file that was sent to you, then click "Open".
  8. Enter the password that you used when you requested the certificate.
  9. The certificate should now be installed in your browser.
  10. You may also want to make this certificate the default certificate to identify you to web sites. Click the security button, then the Navigator link on the left. Choose your certificate from the pull down menu under the "Certificate to identify you to a web site:" section.
  11. Repeat this process for other machines you use to connect to https://www.daml.org.
Note: If you would like to verify www.daml.org's certificate, here's the Netscape fingerprint: 8E:1B:62:7D:92:16:81:3C:55:8E:79:B7:64:59:28:03.
