This directory contains usnavy.daml, a list of U.S. Navy units represented in DAML+OIL (March 2001).

Approach

We processed portions of the public Standard Naval Distribution List (revision of 14 Jun 2002) as follows:

developed the unit-ont ontology (dumpont)
downloaded 5400_4_f.pdf and 5400_4_s.pdf PDF files.
cut-and-pasted the results from the PDF files into text files
manually edited the text files to address minor inconsistencies
processed the text files using a custom program gendaml.java
