DAML Intent of Work (IOW) for Dynamics Research Corporation (DRC)
February 1, 2002 – September 30, 2002
Task 1 – DRC shall provide DAML consulting support to Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Group Two on its decision support system and mission support center technology demonstrations. DRC shall attend EOD meetings to identify requirements, design DAML+OIL ontologies and sample instance data, and demonstrate the benefits of DAML+OIL for EOD applications. DRC shall attend the EOD IPT meetings.
Task 2 – DRC shall
collaborate with other DAML PI teams to support the FY02 DAML Experiment
sponsored by Information Exploitation Office (IXO). In particular, the Experiment scenario shall be related to the
Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) by determining which specific tasks are
appropriate to the mission. Existing
DRC-developed DAML ontologies, such as the Military Task List Ontology and the
Scenario Task List Ontology, will be referenced and/or enhanced. DRC shall develop an ontology to represent
National and CINC objectives from the experiment. An ontology for representing the Conditions from the UJTL will be
developed with a mapping to an Enemy Elements of National Power ontology
developed by others.
Task 3 – DRC shall support DAML team collaboration and
promulgation of research activities by attending the Principal Investigators
(PI) and Semantic Web for the Military
User meetings and by championing the use of DAML+OIL for military applications.
Task 4 – DRC shall perform PM activities including cost and status reporting. This coordination is required within the research team to ensure that demonstrations and other activities are developed on schedule and within budget. A minimal level of effort is required to respond to requirements for cost and status reporting to AFRL and DARPA.
Work with military organizations (e.g., NWDC, DMSO, AMSO, STRICOM, AFRL Rome) to integrate DAML technology into baseline applications. Provide ontology development, data conversion/markup, and testing support.
